Why Volunteer?

The Council depends on volunteers and believes that everyone has a talent to give. Tapping into an individual’s skills and knowledge creates a more meaningful experience for the volunteer and those he or she serves.

Currently the Council has volunteers serving as receptionist, leading exercise activities, providing arts & crafts instruction, entertaining older adults with music and song, as well as many other activities.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to contact the Council’s Volunteer Coordinator at (919) 688-8247.  The Coordinator will ask you about your interests and have you fill out a volunteer application.

Every volunteer must go through an orientation process where they will be provided a copy of the Volunteer Handbook and given a tour of the facilities.  The Volunteer Coordinator will discuss opportunities that are available as well as your availability, skills and interests.

A copy of the handbook and application is posted on this website.

If you are interested in volunteering and believe you have a talent to share, please contact us!
